Music is powerful! It can make us feel, help us heal, trigger a memory, calm us down, pump us up, and on and on. I’ve heard from many JDA alumni that they sing the camp songs for decades and decades after camp, often singing campfire songs as lullabies to their new babies. I talked to one alum who was suffering with dementia. She admitted that she has a hard time remembering day-to-day happenings, but can still sing the campfire songs to perfection! That is a happy thing, a very happy thing.
I hope you enjoy remembering the music of Camp Jeanne d’Arc!
