3 Cheers for our Camp Jeanne d’Arc alumni who generously gave of their resources to support camp:
Thank you to JDA Alumni, Maria Tartaglia Pearl, and her family for hosting a small but lively open house in the Boston, MA area in January. She, Phil and the girls (Suzanne and Natalie, current campers) were even nice enough to host the Abbotts overnight! Maria attended camp in 1979. Maria’s mother,Patricia Ann Tartaglia, was a counselor in 1954-1955 and came back as the camp nurse in 1959.
Gracias to JDA Alumni, Geraldine Colon, and her family for hosting an exciting party in lovely Dorado, Puerto Rico. Geraldine attended camp in 1982. Geraldine attended camp with her sisters and many have sent their daughters to camp as well. Geraldine’s daughter, Gery Ann Mendez, attended Camp JDA for 4 summers. Fingers are crossed that she will come back as a counselor soon.
A very sincere thank you to JDA Alumni, Deidre Young (D.j), for her assistance in writing up many grants to benefit the campers at Camp Jeanne d’Arc. Her expertise in this area is invaluable and will bless our campers for many years to come. D.j attended camp 1994-97 and 2001-2003.
Much appreciation to JDA Alumni, Ana Maria Dzolan Young, for her assistance in writing and assembling our spring 2017 issue of Blue Sparks. Ana Maria was a camper in 1991, 1996-8, 2005, 2014, 2015 (plus alumni helper 1999, 2007, 2009, 2012-13). Ana’s daughter, Sofia, has attended camp for 5 summers and will be back again this summer. Her son, Brennan, also attended Camp Lafayette for a number of years.
A heartfelt thank you to JDA Alumni, Lois Peterson Mariano, for her generous donation of 6 beautiful, new guitars in honor of her family and their love of music. All six of the Petersons loved writing and singing clever song lyrics with an absolute passion. It was no wonder that Lois, and her sister Martha (both alumni), loved aiding in the composition of cabin songs. Camp will benefit greatly for many years to come from this generous donation. In honor of Rick, Frances, Mike, Tony (’70), Lois (’67-’71, ’73), & Martha (’67-’71) Peterson.
