Dear Valued Camp Jeanne d’ Arc Alumnae,
Thank you so much for the warm welcome! We have received many heart felt well wishes and kind words of congratulations. It is very much appreciated. We have felt the almost sacred nature in which you regard Camp Jeanne d’Arc and the McIntyre family. We will never be able to fill their shoes but hope, rather, to stand upon their shoulders as we continue on in the JDA tradition.
Camp Jeanne d’ Arc is what it is today because of you. The walls of Whippoorwill and the Hearth are covered with your names and represent many years of hard work and accomplishment. These experiences have left deep impressions upon your hearts and in turn, have made you who you are today. What a gift and treasure! We would like to carry on this legacy for JDA campers for decades to come. We value your continued involvement.
Here are a few ways you can help:
“Like” and “Share” Camp JDA
Our goal is to fill every bed at Camp JDA. We need to get the word out about our special camp. One easy way to do that is to share on social media. The more we engage with Camp Jeanne d’Arc’s social media, the more people will see it. If you feel inclined, please “like” and “comment” to our posts. We especially appreciate a “share” or “retweet”, as the message will go out to all of your friends. Are you part of a community FB group or other social media groups who might be interested in knowing about camp? We would really appreciate you sharing there. We would love for your friends to know about the reunions and “Show & Tell” parties that we are hosting throughout the country and in Puerto Rico. If you know of anybody who would like to find out more about our very special camp and meet the directors, we’d love to see them. You can see our party schedule on our website, https://campjeannedarc.com/rsvp/. Of course we are always available by phone, email, or text.
“Alumnae Share” Program
Do you have a special skill to share with campers? We would love to have you visit camp and share your unique skills and talents. Last summer, Peg Marie (’70-’72) came to camp and taught a group of campers how to basket weave. They loved it and she had a great time being back at camp. While you’re here, we’d love to hear about your experience as a camper and maybe even learn an old camp song. Inviting our alumnae back to camp for a visit allows the girls to connect with the past and those who came before them. It also refreshes the sweet memories of years gone by for our valued alumnae. Sounds like a winning combination, if you ask me. If this sounds like something you’d like to volunteer to do, please keep your ears perked for more information coming soon.
“Alumnae Share” Volunteer Coordinator
Maybe you would like to help with the Alumnae Share program but don’t have time to make a visit? We are recruiting help by way of a coordinator. As a coordinator you would collect requests from interested alumnae and keep a running calendar. We would ask that you be well versed in computer software, such as Google calendar, which would help us keep a live, running calendar. Sound like fun? Let us know.
Alumnae Videos
Video speaks louder than words, especially these days! In an effort to reach 100% capacity we are working hard to recruit new campers. Would you be willing to share your story with our campers? We are looking for 1-2 minute videos to post on the website to show new campers what they could be a part of. When did you attend camp? What does camp mean to you? How did camp help you or change your life? Do you have any fun facts to share about camp? Email your video to megan@campjeannedarc.com. We’ll put it up on our website!
Alumnae Donations
Donations are always welcome. At almost 100 years old, camp is in need of repairs and updates. Feel free to designate donated funds for a specific need and we will send you photos of how your donation positively impacted our campers and camp community. In addition to monetary donations, we always welcome new or gently used costumes, instruments, art supplies, etc.
95th Reunion
This summer marks a very special birthday for camp JDA, 95 years! We are organizing a reunion for our alumnae to attend at the end of our summer season. Would you like to be involved in the planning? We are putting together a committee of alumnae to help us plan something special. Please respond to megan@campjeannedarc.com at your earliest convenience.
Please stay tuned for registration information to be posted February 1st.
Once again, thank you for your warm welcome and continued support. We look forward to getting to know all of you and hopefully we will see you for the 95th!
Best wishes for a Happy New Year!
Warmly,
Sandy and Randy Abbott
