camp tour - Cabins
Blue Bird
Nestled in the woods, the Bluebird cabin is home to the oldest girls in middle camp (ages 13-14.) The girls live upstairs and their counselors live downstairs right next to the living room. Like all Jeanne d'Arc cabins, Bluebird has indoor plumbing, hot water and a fireplace.

Chalet
The Chalet is the hub of camp—home to the office and counselor headquarters. With a beautiful hearth and living room, the chalet is welcoming area for our guests. The director and some staff live in the chalet during the summer to insure the safety of the campers and good communications.

change House
This is Jeanne d'Arc's Change House-- a small changing area for the girls to use before and after their water activities. Because their day is so full with many different activities, we ask the girls to bring all their equipment and gear with them in the morning and afternoon so they may more quickly get to their next activity.
Chapel
Jeanne d'Arc's chapel, named "Our Lady of Snows," is a true Adirondack chapel. Built in the 40's, this is the center of worship at camp. The stained glass windows were made by Jeanne d'Arcers over the years and a bust of St. Joan of Arc is featured at the top of the rafters.

Falcon
The Falcon Cabin is located closest to our dining hall, the Hearth. Filled with upper camp girls, they take advantage of this location and often roll out of bed in their pj’s for flag raising. This cabin has a living room, fireplace, counselor room and upstairs bunk room for the girls. Sometimes team meetings and rainy day activities are held in the living room of Falcon. Like all Jeanne d'Arc cabins, Falcon has indoor plumbing, hot water and a fireplace.

Hearth
The Hearth at Camp Jeanne d'Arc takes on many functions. Besides being our dining hall, the Hearth hosts campfire, talent shows, the music program, dramatic theater and even some dance-a-thons! Jeanne d'Arc has a long tradition of honoring girls of outstanding achievement by putting their names of the walls of the Hearth. Many traditions of Jeanne d'Arc begin or take place at the Hearth: Banquet, Award Night, Smuggler announcements and even Christmas!

Infirmary
Jeanne d'Arc's infirmary is a fully equipped health center. We have an RN on duty 24 hours a day and local doctors on call. Our nurses provide emergency care, dispense meds and take warm and loving care of any of the girls who become sick. Jeanne d’Arc’s first priority is providing a safe environment for our girls and our infirmary staff is committed to keeping our girls healthy.

La Cabina
Next to the chapel and in the woods behind the Chalet, lies La Cabina-- a charming Adirondack Cabin which was traditionally the home of Colonel, camp's founder. Now LaCabina has many uses, including housing our alumnae visitors and hosting special staff and counselor meetings.

Little Building
Little Building is home to the Lark and Chick cabins, the two youngest age groups at Jeanne d'Arc. The building has two camper bunk areas, two counselor rooms and two bathrooms. Built in the 1940's, Little building is a rustic yet charming cabin. Little Building is the temporary home of our Arts and Crafts program as we build a new Arts and Crafts building.

Owl
The Owl cabin houses the oldest girls at camp. With a camper bunk room upstairs and a living room with fireplace and counselor room downstairs, the Owl cabin also can host many activities. Being the oldest campers, the Owls deliver the mail to each cabin after lunch and milk and cookies in the evening. They also enjoy other special privileges and activities.

Thunderbird
The Thunderbird cabin, known to Jeanne d'Arcers as T-Bird, is home to the second oldest group of girls in upper camp. With a back porch that catches the lake breeze during the day and bull frog serenades at night, this is a great summer spot! Like all our cabins at Jeanne d'Arc, T-Bird includes indoor plumbing and hot water.

Whippoorwill
Whippoorwill is home to the Tanagers, Flickers and Orioles-- three cabins in middle camp. Originally used as the camp dining hall, the Tanager cabin is still decorated with alumnae names hand painted from the 20’s through the 50’s who earned spirit and club awards. The Orioles are perched at the top of the cabin, with a view of the woods and fields. Each cabin group has its own entrance and bathrooms.

Woodsheart
Woodsheart is the home to three cabin groups at Jeanne d'Arc: the Cardinals, the Eagles and the Parrots. Woodsheart is one of Camp's original buildings, built at the turn of the century and was previously used as the summer home of the Biddle Family. Camp’s founder, “Colonel” and her husband “Captain Mac” were married on Woodsheart’s front steps in 1925. Always Camp’s “heart” Woodsheart was the original location for our nightly campfires and its living room is still used as a meeting room, library and recreation area. Woodsheart has a lovely stone fireplace and the writing over the front porch in Old English professes Jeanne d’Arc’s motto: Bringe Loving Hertes.
